PSIRA Bursary Programme for 2026 The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) established in 2002 in terms of Section 2 of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act (Act No 56 of 2001). The strategic mandate of PSiRA originates from the Act and the regulations issued in terms of the Act.
The primary objectives of the Authority are to regulate the private security industry and to exercise effective control over the practice of the occupation of security service provider in the public and national interest and the interest of the private security industry itself, and for that purpose, subject to the Act,

students employed within the private security sector OR students whose legal parent if registered with PSiRA as a security officer, for undergraduate studies in ANY field.
Expenses Covered by PSIRA Bursary Programme for 2026
The bursary will provide cover for tuition fees for 12 months, up to the following amounts:
- Maximum of R25 000 (excluding VAT) per year, for certificate studies at TVET institutions
- Maximum of R45 000 (excluding VAT) per year, for undergraduate diploma or degree studies
Who’s The Right to Fit PSIRA Bursary Programme for 2026
- Linked to the Private Security Sector
- You are employed as a security officer in the private security industry and registered with PSIRA, OR
- You are the legal child of a security officer who is registered with PSIRA.
- Citizenship
- Both the learner and the parent/legal guardian must be South African citizens.
- Age
- The learner must be between 19 and 35 years old.
- Education Level
- You must have completed Grade 12 (Matric).
- You must be accepted or enrolled at an accredited and DHET-registered institution (TVET college, university, or university of technology) for the 2026 academic year.
- Location
- The bursary is open to applicants from all provinces in South Africa.

- Proof of Enrolment / Acceptance
- Proof that the learner is enrolled or accepted at an institution for the 2026 academic year, e.g.:
- Acceptance letter
- Proof of registration
- Admission letter
- Proof that the learner is enrolled or accepted at an institution for the 2026 academic year, e.g.:
- PSIRA Registration Number
- The PSIRA registration number of the parent/guardian who is a security officer must be clearly indicated in the application.
- Affidavit (if applicable)
- An affidavit confirming legal guardianship if the learner is under the care of a legal guardian (and not the biological parent).
- Birth Certificate
- An abridged birth certificate of the learner, clearly showing legal parentage.
- Previously Funded Learners
- If you received PSIRA funding before:

- A statement of account reflecting any outstanding tuition fees for the new year.
