About the ACSA Apprentices Programme
The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) Learnership Programme offers a paid, structured learning opportunity for young South Africans to gain essential workplace experience at the country’s major airports. It combines classroom learning with real-world training, culminating in a nationally recognised qualification under SETA and Umalusi standards.

To be considered for the bursary, you must:
- Be a 2nd or 3rd-year student enrolled in a South African university.
- Be studying one of the following fields:
- Engineering
- Accounting
- Law
- IT
- Property Valuation/Management/Studies
- Environmental Studies
- Demonstrate high academic performance.
- Come from a previously disadvantaged background.
- Be in need of financial assistance.

The Sakhisizwe Bursary Programme provides comprehensive support, covering:
- Accommodation
- Tuition Fees

The Skills You’ll Build:
- Fire & Rescue: emergency response, evacuation, fire suppression
- Security: screening protocols, surveillance, safety regulations
- Customer Care / Admin / Operations: passenger assistance, operations flow, administrative efficiency
Who are Eligible to Apply
- Age & Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens aged between 18 and 34
- Academic Requirements: A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate is essential
- Employment Status: Priority is given to unemployed youth looking to build their careers
- Fitness & Reputation: Physical fitness is required—especially for Fire & Rescue roles—and applicants must have a clean criminal record

Duration & Qualification Outcomes
Spanning 12 to 18 months, learners complete a nationally recognised qualification:
- National Certificate: Operations Management – NQF 3
- Further Education & Training Certificate: Fire & Rescue Operations – NQF 4/5
- National Certificate: General Security Practices – NQF 3.
Where It Takes Place:
Learnerships are available at all nine ACSA airports—including OR Tambo (Johannesburg), Cape Town, King Shaka (Durban), and Bram Fischer—plus the corporate head office OR Tambo remains a major hub for intake, with Cape Town and King Shaka also featured prominently.
